The former Fort of Jalpan
Built in the XVI Century by Fray Juan Ramos de Lora. Since 1991, the Historical Museum of the Sierra Gorda hosts and exhibits a representative sample of the aritistic, cultural and historical heritage of the Sierra Gorda of Querétaro..
It is located in one of the oldest buildings of Jalpan: a fort built in 1576 that was a jail for more than 50 years. Since 1991, it hosts the historical and cultural heritage of the Sierra Gorda. In its 7 rooms you can admire the evolution of the Sierra Gorda during the different stages of national history, all of these with the backup of vestiges found in the region as well as images and documents that have been useful to forge the identity of the Sierra Gorda.
