At 45 minutes from Cadereyta, the ecotourism campground La Isla floats on the Zimapán pond. In the middle of the liquid expanse, there are eight luxury cabins and a pool with an exceptional view. The campground is ideal for fishing black bass and enjoying the calm that only water can produce.

La Isla has 8 safari-type deluxe cabins that are completely equipped, pool, motorboats, dock, boat deck, green spaces and a restaurant. On one of the pond's banks, you will also find accommodations at a comfortable hostel.

Fishing and swimming are the two preferred activities. Likewise you can go to the springs of Thaxidó on a guided visit.

Don't forget your fishing rod. Pack cool and comfortable clothing, bathing suit and sun block. Also, take a camera.


Cadereyta is located close to la Isla, where there are two important nurseries: la Quinta Fernando Schmoll and the Regional Botanical Garden. In the community of El Tepozán you can see marine fossils while in El Doctor, El Palmar or el Maconí you can find cave paintings.

How to get there

Take federal highway 57 Queretaro-Mexico until the exit for the Sierra Gorda, follow state highway 100 until getting on federal highway 120 San Juan del Río-Xilitla. When you pass Cadereyta de Montes, take the exit toward El Palmar. Upon entering the town, continue straight until hitting the end and then turn left. When you find the “Y”, go right on a paved path. After ten minutes, on the left side, you will see a sign that says Tzibanzá. Follow the signs until the pier where a boat will take you to La Isla.

Come and visit the botanical garden, where you’ll discover exotic, unique and endangered plant species.
The church is dedicated to the Apostles of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, but popular tradition says that the Patron of this church is Our Lady of Sagrario, celebrated on September 8th.
A little before reaching the mining town of San Joaquin, the ruins of an important prehispanic city are located: Toluquilla.
The National Secretary of Tourism named Cadereyta a Magical Town by because of its beauty and historic and cultural transcendence.
