A door to the sky
This colorful little town preserves colonial houses, narrow streets and balconies. It is characterized by its high altitude and its red-colored rooftops.
This municipality has activities for all types of visitors. First, you can visit the former Mission of La Purísima Concepción de Bucareli and then the Mission of Our Lady of Ahuacatlán de Guadalupe, near the former convent of Bucareli.
Get in touch with nature visiting El Chuveje or El Salto, two waterfalls of crystalline water falling from over 30 meters high, framed by lush vegetation. Another attraction is Puente de Dios, a natural formation where the waters that come from the nearby streams that form the Escanela River.
Stay in one of the ecotourism camps located in the municipality: Río Escanela, framed by a wooded area, Las Trancas in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere or, El Jabalí, which includes a tour through the Sierra Gorda in an ATV.
