In Bernal, there is the Capilla de las Ánimas, also known as "Animitas". It was built between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and is considered the first church of this Magical Town.
Although many attribute its construction to the Franciscans, there is an additional legend around this enclosure. It is said that a merchant was being pursued by thieves. Frightened, he hid among some bushes and was entrusted to the souls of purgatory. Unhurt from the persecution, he thank the favor of the souls with the construction of the chapel.
The chapel is made up of the atrium, the oratory and a museum where documents, maps, paintings and objects that illustrate the history of Bernal are exhibited. On one side you can find "La Atarjea", a space where outdoors cultural activities take place.
